After the initial process of filtering is complete, those ideas/suggestions that remain have to be properly evaluated. Make sure that they are in line with your business strategy and internal goals.

Or the other way round: If you are convinced by an innovative idea, make sure that your business strategy and your goals are in line with the new idea! Yes, true, life is complicated...and there is no strict rule which way to follow.
 

Anyway, all ideas, which survived the filtering process, need to be analysed and evaluated as transparently as possible through the use of pre-defined evaluation criteria.
